You had me at hello

Sometimes, it’s the smallest moments that stay with you. A child’s quiet focus on a letter, the careful way they sound out a word, or the way their eyes light up when they recognise something new. And even before the lesson begins, there’s the hello “Hello, Miss Elle” the confident, unhesitant greeting that somehow says more than words ever could and sets the tone for the lesson.
My lessons aren’t just about teaching correct letter formation or helping children decode words. They’re about discovering the joy in learning, nurturing self-esteem, and earning a child’s trust. That spark - the excitement in a child’s voice when they greet me - in that instant, you had me at hello.
Parents, notice these moments. Because sometimes, it’s the smallest signs - just one hello - that show a child is engaged, enjoying learning, and growing in confidence. And that, more than anything, is why I love what I do.
